fall is coming

Fall, The Season Of Weight Gain

Excuse me while I hide! Fall, the season of weight gain. Did you know the average amount of weight gain is 5 lbs between fall & winter?

What does that mean for my blood sugars? Uhh, no thank you!

Short days, long nights, cooler weather sets us up for hibernation mode. And then there’s the comfort food…. Oh vey!

What can you do to stay on top of your health & to avoid those extra pesky pounds?

First, don’t get too cozy indoors, being sedentary in the evenings in front of the TV. Remember, this is one of the unhealthiest habits to start.

Instead, throw on a coat & go for a brisk 10 min post-dinner walk. You’ll be revving up your metabolism, improving blood sugar levels, improving circulation, lowering triglycerides plus so much more. Walking after dinner has ALWAYS helped me with digestion & with better post-meal blood sugars.

Another tip is to create your own healthy environment to avoid those fall food cravings. Make hearty soups, stuffed peppers, homemade chili, hearty roasted vegetables. There are many healthy “comfort foods” that won’t pack on the pounds.

Last, avoid adding to your waistline by: Planning Ahead.

Yes, days are shorter, the gym & even outdoor exercises may not be an option with rain & snow.

Don’t panic, it’s easy enough to stay in shape in these colder months by having the right workout gear at home. Glide discs, a jump rope, resistance bands. Get your core, cardio & strength training in with exercise equipment that easily packs away & stores in a drawer or small bag.

Check out GenerationFit.net for the things you’ll need as you prepare to keep those fall pounds off. Stay on top of your health, keep your summer body & don’t FALL into the season of weight gain.
I know I’m prepared! My blood sugars depend on it!
