The Benefits Of Using Resistance Bands

Research shows that strength training speeds up metabolism, lowers blood sugars and utilizes insulin better.

Pumping iron not your thing? That’s ok. Resistance bands are just as effective!

Resistance Band Exercise

When I teach exercises in diabetes education classes, I use resistance bands. I teach simple, yet effective full body exercises that anyone can do. People LOVE it! When they see how easy the exercises are, they are motivated to do them!

Muscles matter because they use the most glucose. Resistance bands build healthy muscles. With their constant resistance, the muscles work under tension for a longer period of time and in a full range of motion. You don’t get this with dumbbells which use gravity. Bands improve the overall function and strength of the muscle. With muscle gain, this leads to less insulin resistance, better insulin sensitivity, and more room to store excess glucose in the muscles.

Use bands for standing or seated exercises, easily modify routines to fit your needs. For those with neuropathy, customize your workout in a way that is comfortable yet still promotes circulation and strengthening. Bands are easier on the joints than weights, making them ideal for diabetics.

Suitable for every person at any level. As you build strength, simply move up to the next level band.
